Dear Katie, I’m so sorry to learn about what you experienced and am furious on your behalf that something so unfathomable could happen to you. I spent a night in hospital due to a gynaecological procedure and felt suicidal, so can only imagine how you must have felt. You should have been safe and protected, not punished. I know words from strangers can’t undo the harm done to you, but I hope it brings you some comfort to know that people like me are on your side, sending love and compassion. I will continue to support Level Up’s campaign to decriminalise abortion and hope the legal system sees sense over your treatment (the moral crime is entirely theirs).

With luck and continued support, your case may be dismissed or may be treated leniently, and the archaic law will be taken off the statute books. Dear “Kate” I am so sorry for your troubles. would have expected some empathy. You should not be treated in this way. I’m shocked that a midwife would involve themselves in your business. Please be aware that the vast majority of the country support your right to bodily autonomy. Take care of yourself, and I will be hoping for a positive out come for you. Dear Darling, I’m so sorry for the trauma you experienced in hospital. I totally condemn it. It is a complete outrage. You deserved support & you were let down. You have done nothing wrong. So many of us women want to help you. You will be supported. Please ask for exactly what you need. Nothing is too much. This will get better. I promise. You will recover. I’ve been there.
